Snuggles and Cuddles | Austin Newborn Photographer

I love welcoming all new babies into my Austin Newborn Photography studio, but I especially watching my families grow.  Big brother was one of my tiny clients as an Austin Newborn Photographer not too long ago. They look so much alike as babies  with their wispy blond hair and sweet little faces. I have a soft spot in my heart for brothers as I have three boys of my own. Of course, brotherly love isn’t always about hugs and kisses but when those moments happen they are really special and I was really excited to capture one of them.

I get asked all the time as an Austin Newborn Photographer how I get the babies to sleep so peacefully. While some babies are naturally more interested in sleep than others I do have a  few tricks up my sleeve. I have three favorite products I use during my sessions. The first is the Baby Shusher. It has been called the “Soothing Sleep Miracle for Babies” and I do believe that is absolutely true! This little device makes a gentle shooshing sound that settles babies and helps to keep them in a quiet sleep.  The second is a weighted swaddle blanket. I have found any kind of gentle pressure on the chest and sides of baby mimics the sensation of being held. The third is relatively new is called the Tranquillo Mat. This mat provides the reassurance of the womb by mimicking a mom’s heartbeat and motions through gentle vibrations and soft sounds. I never leave baby unattended, however, when using these products and you should follow all product directions regarding baby’s safety when they are in use. The links are copied below. Happy Napping!

Sweet Little Archer | Austin Newborn Photographer

Sweet little Archer was quite the charmer! His cheeks alone are enough to fall in love with him. I do have to admit, I am partial to squishy, baby cheeks as an Austin newborn photographer!!! You could kiss them all day. He really was the prettiest little baby with so much hair and a perfect little nose. He was also just the sweetest, just sleeping away for almost the entire session.

I am also lucky enough to have worked with his beautiful mama even before he came along and she chose me as her Austin newborn photographer. She is as sweet and beautiful as her little guy. Her maternity pictures were stunning and I was so excited about her Austin maternity session.

My newborn sessions are styled with a simple, classic look customized with your colors and highlighted with handmade accessories and props. As an Austin baby photographer, my sessions are based in Austin, TX and the beautiful surrounding Hill Country area including Drippings Springs, Bee Caves and Lakeway. I have mentored with two of the top newborn photographers in the last three years, am current on my whooping cough vaccine and have studied the best ways to keep baby warm, sleepy, safe and comfortable during their session. A tip I always give my mom and dads is to stroke the area above their little nose, between their eyes in a downward motion. I consulted with an acupuncturist on key pressure points and found this point is known as the third eye in yoga. You are essentially “closing” their eye when you apply pressure to this point and stroking downward.

Tiny Treasure | Austin Newborn Photographer

Even though I’ve photographed hundreds of beautiful babes as an Austin newborn photographer I will never get use to how they are so truly small, precious and perfect. This little treasure is certainly no exception. She is so, so petite with the most beautiful features. She is definitely in the running for the best hair award and has the most amazing, creamy skin. Mom picked out the most delicate and elegant headbands, bonnets and outfits and they fit her perfectly. They are also some of the my favorites and I love how this session so beautifully came together.

I was honored to have photographed big sister as an austin newborn photographer as well and she was just as beautiful as baby sister. I love to not only capture sibling pictures but individual images of them as well. It’s so fun to see how they’ve grown and look back to see if they resemble baby sister or brother.

Cozy Among the Stars | Austin Baby Photographer

I’ve worked with this sweet little one’s family before and was so excited when they contacted me to set up his newborn session! Knowing that his nursery has a space/galaxy theme, I designed this custom set just for him! Doesn’t he look so cozy, snuggled in tight among the stars?

Believe it or not, this little guy with the most amazing hair wanted absolutely nothing to do with sleeping. I mean seriously, he did not want to sleep (at all)! While this made the typical newborn sleepy poses a little difficult, we were still able to capture a few of those classic images for his family and his bright eyes stole the show towards the end of our session.

Kim del Angel - Austin Baby Photographer

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with this family again and can’t wait to watch this little one grow with their family over the coming years. Here’s a sneak peek of the kind words they left on my Austin baby photographer Facebook page:

“Kim is a delight to work with and we plan on her photographing our family for years to come! She photographed both my kiddos as newborns and did maternity shoots for each pregnancy. I love working with her and am happy with all the photos she has taken.”  – Jennifer

Here are four tips you should know about scheduling a session with your Austin baby photographer:

  1. Get in touch with me during your 2nd to 3rd trimester to set up your newborn session. We’ll plan according to your due date and then adjust our session date and time based on your actual delivery date.
  2. The newborn phase goes by so quickly! Plan on having your baby’s photos taken when they are 4-12 days old. This will allow us to take advantage of the sleepy stage and snuggle them up tight.
  3. All of my sets are customized to fit the needs of the babies I photograph. Like the photos you see above, I get to know each of my clients prior to the actual session and make sure that I’m prepared to create the images that you as parents have always dreamed of!
  4. The safety of your baby is my absolute priority! My studio is warm and comfortable, and ready to welcome you and your family in a peaceful setting that will allow you to relax and enjoy this precious time with your little one.

If you’re expecting and on the hunt for an Austin baby photographer, please email me at kim@kimdelangel.com. I’d love to learn more about what you have in mind for your baby’s first photos and answer any questions you might have regarding newborn photography. I can’t wait to hear from you!

I Will Always Love You | Austin Baby Photographer

“Hold my hand little brother all the years through for I will always love and protect you.”

This precious baby was quite the little snuggle bug for me as an Austin baby photographer. He was just perfect and cuddly! He has a beautiful big sister who completely loves to cuddle him too! I’m sure she sure can’t wait to read him her favorite stories and rock him to sleep. He really could be straight from a nursery rhyme, snuggling his little teddy and wearing his sleeping cap. Sweet dreams little peanut…you are the cutest little guy!

“I was so impressed with both the photo shoot and how the pictures turned out! She is amazing with newborns and I felt completely comfortable with her and my 10 day old. I would definitely use her again and would recommend her to anyone.” – Laura
