Look at him smash his face into that cake!!! A dinosaur could not have smashed that cake any better itself.
He was so fun and simply the best with those curls and scrunchy nose faces. He really was a photographer’s dream. He knew exactly how to smash that cake and gave us the best smiles and funny faces along the way.
As a photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to witness many amazing moments – from first steps to big birthdays. One of my favorites is ta themed cake smash – like this one – a dino Cakes Smash for this adorbale 1 year old boy! There’s something so fun and special about watching a child dig into their very own cake for the first time, and it always leaves me with a feeling of joy and awe.
Capturing the perfect Cake Smash Moment
I always make sure to capture each moment of delight in photos – from the look of surprise as they realize that the cake is all theirs, to the mess they make as they dive in. Every detail matters, because I know how precious these memories are. And when I give the parents their album or prints, they’re always left with the same feeling of joy that I had while taking the photos.
That’s why I’m so passionate about cake smashes: I get to be a part of some of the most precious moments in a family’s life, and help them create memories that will last forever.
Why Mom’s Are choosing a cake smash photo shoot
A mom write to me about experience one of my Cake Smash Photo shoots with her son:
As I watched my 1yr old daugher dive into her birthday cake, a wave of overwhelming emotion swept over me. Seeing her squeal with delight as she dug into the frosting with her tiny hands brought back memories of when she was a newborn, and of all the moments she never hesitated to experience new things. It was such a surreal experience to witness this momentous occasion for my daughter as an toddler, and it felt like time had stopped for that one precious second.
The cake smash photo shoot itself was an extraordinary journey for me as a new mom. I started out by decorating the cake – I got to be creative – which I am not usually. I probably put alot of work into the cake only demolished probably in seconds. Setting up the Cake – Kim took some ‘before’ photos of my daughter looking pristine and angelic – which was actually pretty easy! Finally, came the long-awaited moment: the actual cake smash. And just like that, there was nothing but icing and laughter – and sticky fingers.
It was quite simply unforgettable. And clean up wasn’t that bad. As I looked through the photos afterwards – I’m glad I took the time to do this. After all my daughter was only going to celebrate her first birthday once. My daughter may grown up so quickly, but moments like these will remain forever – And so does the photograph that is framed in our hallway.
