First Year Moments, Brotherly Love and Morning Light

I have been capturing lifestyle moments for this family since their first little one was born and can’t believe we are now celebrating baby brother’s first birthday. I’m always so glad to hear from them but when we were planning his session and Mom wanted to include a lifestyle cake smash I was so excited. A beautiful baby with rosy cheeks, some delicious morning light AND a cake smash? It’s a photographer’s dream!!! I have to confess, though, blueberries are his favorite and he was more interested in them than the cake.

We grabbed the morning light outside on their swing before his blueberry and cake breakfast and, gosh, I do love a good swing session!!! They are so fun and kiddos will give you such genuine, heart warming smiles and belly laughs. These guys, their swing and the light did not disappoint.

Last but certainly not least are these sweet, secret brotherly moments. These images are just melting my heart, especially as a mom of three boys.

This session was just a dream and I love they are a new chapter in their family’s story. Mom and Dad are really good about hanging their prints on the wall so, when I visit them, I can see their pictures telling their story in their home over the last few years and I just love knowing I was a small part in that.

Little Boy Blue Cake Smash Dripping Springs TX

“Little boy blue come…smash your cake!” He was, obviously, so fun. We couldn’t ask for any more of those toothy baby smiles.  He was a master smasher and literally smashed his cake not only into his mouth but also the floor. You can’t tell from the photos but this guy loves to dance! His dad played his favorite songs and we captured the cutest hand clapping, belly laughing session I think I’ve ever done.

We celebrated him with a sweet and simple cake smash and mom’s choice of colors and backdrop turned out so great. His personality and blue eyes really stole the show!

        Roaring Fun Dinosaur Cake Smash

Look at him smash his face into that cake!!! A dinosaur could not have smashed that cake any better itself.

He was so fun and simply the best with those curls and scrunchy nose faces. He really was a photographer’s dream. He knew exactly how to smash that cake and gave us the best smiles and funny faces along the way.

Celebrating Pretty in Pink, Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

I can’t help but love all things pink and dainty when it comes to little girls. I love the flowery headbands, the ruffles and the delicate lace. I may or may not have a small obsession with headbands as evidenced by my ever growing collection and probably a direct result form being a boy mom. My boys are so fun but don’t really appreciate my flowered headbands. I love to play dress up with my sweet girl babies and so did my mom for this session. Mom requested soft pinks, this beautiful outfit that reminds of a tiny ballerina and sheer, see-through lace for her dainty little peanut. This baby’s delicate china doll features and rosy cheeks really are straight out of a fairytale, just like the fairy tale themed animals decorating her nursery. Her mom asked if we could have some special lovies made to to match her artwork and I was so excited when I could have this little fox created for her. I love to find custom pieces for my sessions to make them even more special. Her little fox went home with her and I hope the two of them are spending lots of time snuggling.

Three Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed in this Super Fun Session

Yes, I think this is exactly what it feels like with a new baby and two other kiddos bouncing around the house. I can see so much fun, a little bit of crazy and a lot of love in this image. A mom of three, especially this mom, generally has an air of calmness about her that surpasses all understanding. Two kids happily bouncing on the bed and a snoozing newborn, no problem. The third baby, also, has a calmness about them that is a little bit uncanny. Brothers and sisters laughing and jumping and sometimes fussing typically doesn’t phase them and they can literally sleep through anything. I have photographed each of these beautiful kiddos since they were newborns and it’s so fun to see if baby brother looks like big brother or to wonder if this little guy will have blond hair too. Oh yes, while I am at it, let’s talk for a minute about their golden locks. I might have asked her what kind of hair products she used on them so I can work it into my regimen. Lifestyle sessions are a perfect opportunity to include siblings in the session and these images are a perfect example. Love, love the way they are snuggled up with baby on the bed and telling each other secrets. Another favorite lifestyle session in the books!

Falling in Love with Tender and True Newborn Lifestyle Stories

I am quickly finding myself falling in love with the intimacy of newborn lifestyle sessions. They are tender and true mixed with a bit of newborn baby exhaustion and wonder. My heart fluttered a bit for this particular session, I have to admit, when I saw those curly, velvety locks and his chubby, six week old not so little cheeks. His smiles were starting to peek through with a whisper from mom or dad. One of my goals, for any session but particularly newborns, is to catch all of their different faces from those smiles that are absolutely golden to their yawns and frowny faces. Baby M did not disappoint with personality with all of his squirming and smiling and playtime with mom and dad. The pups were almost as curious about his squeaks and squirms as the rest of us. I have to brag for a minute about these guys as well since they were quite the perfect posers and I couldn’t love this new family’s complete portrait anymore if I tried. Capturing these lifestyle moments of baby yawns and stretches and new parent snuggles is a kind of photographer fun that is hard to put into words but that I hope leaps through the images.
